Sky-Deer in high-level meetings today

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Ohén:ton Í:iente ne Ratitsénhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer hosted two (2) high-level meetings today.

This morning, Sky-Deer met with the newly appointed U.S. Consul General for Montreal, Robert P. Sanders. The meeting was requested by Consul General Sanders, who arrived in Montreal a few weeks ago, and is introductory in nature. Over the last several years, Sky-Deer has built strong relationships with U.S. Consul Generals in Montreal. These relationships are valued by the MCK, as cross border and other issues can be addressed at a higher level.

Additionally, Sky-Deer met with Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Manon Massé, Co-Spokesperson for Québec Solidaire. The meeting was requested by the MNA, who wishes to discuss Kahnawà:ke’s political priorities and challenges. Mme. Massé will also share her party’s vision of solidarity with indigenous peoples, climate change, rooted in the respect for Aboriginal Rights.
