Local male in custody following break-in

On November 11, 2023, at 21:39, the Kahnawake Peacekeepers received a call from a resident on Veterans Boulevard reporting a male had broken into their house with a firearm.

Peacekeepers located the suspect, who had discarded the firearm and barricaded himself inside the residence. The firearm was confirmed to be a replica.

At 23:24, Peacekeepers entered the residence and safely took the male into custody.

Joshua Zachary, DOB 1991/07/12, was held in custody and appeared before a judge. He is charged with:

  1. Breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offense.
  2. Using an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offense.
  3. Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  4. Uttering threats, death or bodily harm
  5. Obstructing a police officer
  6. Assault on a peace officer.
  7. Assault on a peace officer with a weapon
