11/15/2023
The Client Based Services (CBS) Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that the deadline to apply for the Essential Snow Removal Program has been extended until Friday, November 24, 2023.
A service for low-income elderly and disabled community members without relatives to assist them will operate from December 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024. The program provides access for emergency service personnel by clearing entryways, such as ramps, stairs, and driveways. The program can only accept a limited number of clients, and previous clientele need to re-apply each year.
All Kahnawa’kehró:non on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the service:
- A physically disabled individual or a person or couple 65 years of age or older who
- lives alone with limited income and little or no extended family;
- has a medical problem (short or long-term) or
- has no family to look out for their wellbeing.
Applications are available at the CBS offices located in the Services Complex. Contact Caroline McComber at 450-638-0500 for full details on eligibility criteria and services provided.
