Residents urged to limit water usage and reduce wastewater

The Public Works Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) is requesting that residents hooked up to the town′s water and sewer system to limit water usage to help ease the volume in the sewage system, which is currently working at maximum capacity.

The heavy rain we have been experiencing since last evening is currently overwhelming the sewage system, which could cause additional flooding in low-lying areas.

The Public Works Unit is monitoring the situation and will provide the community with updates when required.
