Excavation Tender Awarded to The National/Phillip Jacobs Excavation for the Multi-Purpose Building

Forwarded on behalf of the Multi-Purpose Building Project Team The Kanienkehaka Onkwawenna Raotitiohkwa Language & Cultural Center and its partners (the Building Committee) wish to advise the community that following the recent call for tenders for the excavation portion of the project, The National Excavation/Phillip Jacobs Excavation has been selected as the winning bidder.
�We are extremely pleased to have a local business (Philip Jacobs) partner with a large company like The National to provide a sharp price and include as much Mohawk content as they have,� stated Louie John Diabo, Project Manager. �This will include 33% of the site work, 100% of the gravel provided via JFK Quarry and gravel transportation via Quick 8 Construction.�
Information sessions will be offered by Les Enterprises QMD Inc. (the Construction Manager) and Tewatohnhi�saktha for future tenders, and will be announced by a Public Service Announcement to the local media and on the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke�s social media accounts.
The following is a detailed list of actions starting today, February 5:
- A local Tree Surgeon business will remove brush for the building and parking envelope
- Trees will be tagged and stored for transplanting or giveaway in the spring
- Construction trailer placement, Hydro power hook up, and temporary water hook-up
The major works of building a temporary site entrance and exit, and then preliminary site-work Excavation will commence on the week of February 12. All traffic and safety plans will be well communicated beforehand.
