MCK authorizes JCCBI Project to test specialized concrete

03/20/2024

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) wishes to inform the community that it has approved a pilot project to be conducted by Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges, Inc. (JCCBI).

The project, which began on Monday, will see the construction of a temporary concrete pad and a 2-metre-high pillar (a scaled-down version of a support pier) made of Ultra-High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete.

The construction of the temporary structure is located on a piece of land along the R-132/R-138 West Service Road, adjacent to the pedestrian path (see pictures below).

The construction and study will end on May 5, 2024, at which time the pillar will be moved to another location for further study by JCCBI. The temporary concrete pad will then be demolished, and the area will be restored to its original state.

The temporary structure demolition will occur no later than November 30, 2024.
