MCK presents the 2024-2025 Annual Budget

03/27/2024

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) wishes to announce that the annual budget has been finalized for the fiscal year 2024-2025 (April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025). At the duly convened Council meeting held on 18, Enniskowa/March 2024, the Council of Chiefs approved by consensus the MCK operating budget of $100.1 million, including $25 million for the Multi-Purpose Building Project. This compares to the current fiscal year′s budget of $67 million.

Highlights of this year′s budget include the new outdoor rink project, Kahnawake Sports Complex upgrades and accessibility, the Creek Rehabilitation Project, and a surplus of $12.8 million.

"As always, we would like to thank the Finance Unit for their hard work in putting together our operating budget for this coming year and for their dedication year-round," said Administrative Affairs Portfolio lead Ratsenhaienhs Lindsay LeBorgne. "Reporting to the community is a big part of our commitment to be accountable and transparent, and we′re happy to report that at this point in time, we are financially healthy."

"We′re happy to be able to once again project a surplus for this coming year," added Kyle Delisle, MCK′s Executive Financial Officer. "This reflects our commitment to responsible fiscal management and prudent decision-making. This underscores our dedication to the financial well-being of both our organization and our community members. We look forward to a year of continued growth."

"As we enter a new fiscal year, it is an opportune time to work on the development of the MCK′s multi-year financial plan and appropriated fund policy," stated Executive Director Onerahtokha Marquis. "This will create another level of accountability to ensure that funds are spent strategically and effectively, to strengthen our financial health and enable us to better serve those who rely on our services and support."

The budget will be posted in both Ioriwase and the Eastern Door newspapers and at www.kahnawake.com. The audited financial statements, including those from previous years, are also available online at www.kahnawake.com/financials.
