2nd Session for New Status Card Registration

The Social Development Unit and the Kahnawą:ke Indian & Northern Affairs (INAC) office are pleased to announce that a second set of early registration sessions will take place for the new Secure Certificate of Indian Status from March 16th 21st and March 23rd - 26th.
Registrations will be held in the Community Room at the Kahnawą:ke Peacekeeper Station from 9am to 4:30pm for all days except Friday, March 20th, which will be from 9am - noon. Walk-ins will be welcome.
Applications should be completed prior to your appointment and supported by an original birth certificate (photocopies will not be accepted) and two pieces of identification.(i.e. drivers license, old age security card, government issued employee card, other government issued I.D., student I.D. with digitized photo of applicant or passport).
Please note that applications are available at two locations only; the Membership Office located on the first floor of the Kahnawą:ke Services Complex or at the local INAC Office located across from the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center.
Current Status Cards will be accepted for tax exemption purposes until the marked expiry date; these laminated cards will not be accepted at land border crossings after June of this year. The general release of the new Secure Certificate of Indian Status is scheduled for April 2009.
