High concentrations of E coli detected in Tioweroton

The Public Safety Division, in conjunction with the Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake, wishes to inform the community of recent water sampling results in Tioweroton.

Water testing by Environmental Health Services of Kahnawake Shakotiia′takehnhas Community Services detected a high level of E.coli at the first Bridge and the Falls. As a precaution, Kahnawa�kehr�:non are advised not to swim in that area until further notice.

The weather forecast projects rain this coming Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, which should reduce E.coli values when the next sampling is done. Water testing will continue, and updates will be provided to the community as they become available. The next test will be on Monday, July 1, weather permitting.
