The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake wishes to inform the community that the Kahnawakehronon Ratitsenhaienhs will be attending the second and third days of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) Annual General Assembly (AGA) in Montreal today and tomorrow, July 10 and 11.
The three-day session agenda includes regional Caucus meetings, plenary discussions on clean water, policing, and specific claims, as well as resolutions on topics including:
- Health
- Justice
- Indigenous rights
- Lands
- Infrastructure
- Environment
- Education
- Language
"It’s great that we get to hit the ground running and attend the AFN AGA during the first week of the new term. In particular, it’s a golden opportunity to meet with Federal Ministers and begin to apply pressure on some of our political files," said Ohenton Irate ne Ratitsenhaienhs Cody Diabo. "This is a great networking opportunity for the Kahnawakehronon Ratitsenhaienhs to learn about what the AFN, as a collective and other communities, individually, are working on."
The Ratitsenhaienhs will resume their regularly scheduled orientation activities on Friday, July 12, 2024.
