Electoral Officer Call for Nominations Date Change

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that the original dates scheduled for the Call for Nominations for the Electoral Officer of the 2009 Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Elections have been extended.
The new nomination period will begin at 8:30am on 20, Enniskó:wa/March and end at 4:00pm on 3, Onerahtókha / April.
As previously announced, nominations must be proposed and seconded by two community members who meet requirements of the Kahnawá:ke Membership Law and are listed as members on the Kahnawá:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry.
Community members who wish to nominate a candidate can pick up nomination forms at the main building of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke during regular business hours.
Nominees must sign a privacy waiver to allow verification that they meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Be over the age of twenty-one (21);
• Meet requirements of the Kahnawá:ke Membership Law and be on the Kahnawá:ke
Kanien’kehá:ka Registry;
• Reside in Kahnawà:ke; and
• Must not have been, within the previous six (6) years, convicted and sentenced for a criminal offense. The six (6) year ban commences only after sentence has been served in full.
The Electoral Officer Terms of Reference and Responsibilities will be available to nominees by request, from Executive Assistant Samantha Montour-Cross.
