Skawenniio Tsi Iewennahnotahkhwa Library building closed

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the Skawenniio Tsi Iewennahnotahkhwa Library building has been closed until further notice for safety concerns.

Following a joint inspection performed by the Occupational Safety & Health and Asset Management Architectural Technical team, the building was recommended to be vacated until a structural engineer can confirm its safety.

The Trailers next to the Kahnawake Labor Office building have been secured as a temporary location for the Library Summer Book Club, which is expected to re-open in the coming days. The MCK Organizational Development Unit staff, who also occupy the building, will work offsite until further notice.
