Call for Decision-makers on the Administrative Tribunal

The Justice Services Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake is inviting interested persons to submit applications for a Professional Services Agreement to serve as Decision-makers on the Administrative Tribunal. The submission period begins today, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, and ends at 4pm on Friday, August 23, 2024. There are three (3) vacancies to fill.
Decision-makers will perform the duties set forth in the Kahnawake Justice Act and related regulations and any other applicable Kahnawake laws, regulations, policies, or procedures on an "as needed" basis. Decision-makers are responsible for reviewing decisions of the administrative branch of Kahnawake government.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- be at least 18 years old;
- not have been convicted of an indictable offence unless they meet one of the exceptions listed in article 3.3 of the Regulation Respecting the Institution and Management of the Administrative Tribunal;
- not have been convicted of a summary conviction offence within the last six (6) years;
- have formal legal training, which means having completed an undergraduate degree in law at a recognized North American University; and
- be in good standing with their professional order or have retired in good standing, if applicable.
The term of office is five (5) years.

Applications can be picked up and dropped off at the Court of Kahnawake during regular business hours. Submissions must be accompanied by a letter of intent, a resume, the names and contact information of two (2) professional references, and proof of educational requirements.

Application packages can be sent to interested persons by email and, once completed, can be submitted by email to evaluation.committee@mck.ca.
If applicants do not have access to a computer, they can make arrangements to pick up and submit application packages.
