MCK moves from Quarterly to Monthly Community Meetings
09/25/2024
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) Office of the Council of Chiefs wishes to inform the community that starting in January 2025, Community Meetings will be taking place monthly, on the last Wednesday of each month, from 6pm-9pm.
Options for meeting frequency were presented at the Summer Community Meeting on September 18th, and those present supported moving to a monthly schedule.
“Over the past year or so we’ve taken note that quarterly meetings are insufficient to cover all the agenda items. Oftentimes the meetings run long, and we still haven’t managed to discuss everything we intended to,” said Ohén:ton Í:rate ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo. “Monthly meetings will allow us to address more items and stay within the allotted meeting time.”
Communal Land Allotment Requests will continue to be scheduled on a quarterly/seasonal basis.
Venues and agenda items will be announced in advance of all meetings. Please note that dates are subject to change in cases where circumstances dictate.
The 2024 Fall Community Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th, location and agenda to be announced.
