Sewage Treatment Plant work requires evacuation into St Lawrence River

The Public Works Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise the community that upcoming work on the Sewage Treatment Plant will undergo the flushing of the entire system. This operation will require the dumping of raw, untreated sewage directly into the St. Lawrence River on February 26, 2025.

Approximately 200 m³ (cubic meters) of waste will be pumped via underground sewage lines into the river, which is expected to take between 3 and 4 hours.

More information regarding the exact time of the operation will be communicated to the community as the date draws closer.

There will be no impact on the community or the sewage system.
