No Commercial Usage at Transfer Depot

05/12/2009

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke's Environment Protection Office would like to inform all Construction Contractors that the Transfer Depot cannot be used to dispose of commercial waste.

In the past, letters discouraging use of the transfer depot for commercial purposes were sent to all contractors and small businesses in the community. However, many new businesses and independent contractors have since developed and commercial usage has again become an issue.

"Due to budget constraints, we cannot afford to dispose of commercial waste from contractors," said Environment Protection Coordinator, Eva Johnson. "If businesses continue to utilize the depot in this way, it will negatively affect our door to door waste removal service."

Similar letters are being presented to contractors who are still disposing of waste at the Transfer Depot.

For more information, please call the Kahnawą:ke Environment Protection Office at 450-635-0600.
