Exit Poll Results Announced
07/07/2009
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) announced the results of the Exit Poll held during the election held on Saturday, 4 Ohiari’kó:wa/July. The question asked was:
“Do you recognize the Federal (Canadian) Court’s authority to override a decision made by the Court of Kahnawà:ke in respect to Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke elections?”
A total of 758 people participated.
705 people said “no” (93% of those who participated)
50 people said “yes” (6.6% of participants)
3 survey ballots were spoiled.
While this was clearly not intended to be a referendum, it does give the MCK and the community a clear sense of where Kahnawa’kehró:non stand on this issue.
