Reminder re: INAC Secure Status Cards
08/17/2009
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) would like to remind the community that the processing of the new Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) Secure Certificates of Indian Status continues until Friday, August 21st. Thus far turnout has been low and if this trend continues, processing previously scheduled for the fall months may be cancelled and not take place again until 2010. This may cause potential United States border crossing issues. The MCKs Social Development Unit is once again assisting INAC in the process and strongly urges those wishing to acquire the new Secure Card to apply as soon as possible. Please remember to bring your old status card, a second piece of photo identification and original birth certificate. Processing takes place each day this week from 9am to 5pm at the Peacekeepers Station Community Room. There will be a one hour lunch break from 12 noon to 1pm.
