Final Preparation for Proposed Justice Act

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to inform the community about a number of developments relating to the upcoming hearing for the proposed Kahnaw�:ke Justice Act.

First, the completed results of the community survey were released today, showing that a solid majority of people (approximately 90%) continue to show support for various aspects of a Kahnaw�:ke justice system (see attached).

Second, the MCK is announcing that the Onkwariwa�shon:�a newsletter has been rededicated as the official record of legislation for Kahnaw�:ke. All legislation to use the Community Decision Making Process will be recorded and published in this journal.

Third, an official website is being set up and will be launched on Monday, 28 Seskehk�:wa/September. �www.kahnawakemakingdecisions.com� will be accessible through a link at the MCK�s www.kahnawake.com website.

As announced earlier, the Kahnaw�:ke Justice Commission will be asking for a mandate to proceed with this legislation on Wednesday, 30 Seskehk�:wa/September.

The hearing is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30pm at the Golden Age Club.
