No Trash Dumping at Recycling Depot

12/02/2009

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to remind community members that the Recycling Depot is intended for drop off of recyclable materials ONLY.

It has come to KEPO’s attention that there have been several incidents of trash being dropped off outside of the Recycling Depot. Community members are urged to use the Transfer Depot (along Seaway Road) for any waste they wish to remove from their homes.

Friday’s household garbage pickup will take almost any item from the curb. All items that are not picked up or those that need immediate removal are to be dropped off at the Transfer Depot.

“Garbage dumping at the Recycling Depot seriously delays household recycling pickup service,” said Environment Coordinator Eva Johnson. “If our recycling depot team has to remove trash, it will indefinitely delay the recycling pickup service.”

Regular household garbage pickup is on Fridays and household recycling pickup is on Mondays and Thursdays (Wednesdays for certain areas).
