No parking signs in effect on Old Malone Highway

The Community Protection Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to remind motorists that enforcement of the new No Parking signs along the eastbound side of the Old Malone Highway has begun and the Kahnaw�:ke Peacekeepers will now issue citations for non-compliance.

Due to several safety concerns the No Parking signs were erected in October 2008. Parking on both sides of the street causes clearance on the roadway to narrow which creates problems for emergency vehicles such as Fire Trucks and Ambulances. It also hampers Snow Removal operations, particularly during snow storms.
