Notice regarding Mohawk Power Draw
01/15/2010
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that it has hand-delivered a letter to Mr. Peter Ilias, the promoter of the Mohawk Power Draw, directing him to immediately stop all activities related to this raffle/draw.
Mr. Ilias has also been directed to refund all monies received in relation to this raffle/draw to persons who purchased such tickets.
This letter is a follow-up to notices sent out before Christmas by the Kahnawą:ke Gaming Commission and the MCK.
The letter states, as follows,
We trust that the directives of the Kahnawą:ke Gaming Commission shall be carried out promptly. The MCK requests proof that participants have been refunded with seven days and that all Mohawk Power Draw related activities have ceased. If you refuse to follow these directives, the Kahnawą:ke Peacekeepers will be asked to intervene immediately and your presence will no longer be tolerated in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawą:ke.
The MCK and the Kahnawą:ke Gaming Commission have very strong reasons to believe that Mr. Ilias has criminal convictions, including an indictable offence of fraud.
Gaming and gaming-related activities within the Territory, except as specifically permitted by the Kahnawą:ke Gaming Law, are prohibited under section 31.1.
