MCK informs 26 non-Natives to vacate the Territory
01/22/2010
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that it is sending letters to 26 non-Natives residing in Kahnawà:ke who have no right to do so. These people will be asked to immediately vacate the Territory.
This is in response to over 100 Kahnawa’kehró:non who, since last year, have contacted the MCK and/or the Membership Department by mail, telephone and e-mail to make complaints about this situation.
The names of the 26 people will be made public once the letters have been delivered. This process is expected to be completed by next week.
Chief & Council are now meeting on a regular basis to discuss, deliberate and strategize on issues relating to membership and its effects on our community.
