04/30/2010
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated and the Ministère des Transports du Québec announced the closing of the Route 132 on and off ramps (towards La Prairie) from Saturday, May 1st at 5am until Monday, May 3rd at 5am. Details are as follows: • Saturday, May 1st at 5am to Sunday, May 2nd at 5am - Complete closure of Ramp 2 toward Montreal and closing of the left lane toward La Prairie • Sunday, May 2nd at 5am to Monday, May 3rd at 5am - Complete closing of Ramp 2 toward La Prairie and closing of the left lane toward Montreal Signs will indicate detours during the work period. Road users from La Prairie will use the access road linking Highways 132 and 138. The Highway 207 (St. Isidore Road) will allow users to return to Highway 138 in the opposite direction and get access to the bridge by the Highway 138 on ramp (Ramp 4). Users traveling in the La Prairie direction will be directed to do the opposite. They will take the Highway 138 exit ramp and travel toward La Prairie by using the Highway 207 (St. Isidore Road) exit that will take them in the opposite direction on Highway 138 toward Highway 132 and La Prairie. The work will allow removal of the work platform under the on ramp to the bridge coming from Châteauguay (Ramp 4). Rehabilitation work on the deck occurred in 2009. It should also be noted that the clearance under Ramp 4 will be restored to 4.1 metres on Monday, May 3rd at 5am for users (mostly trucks) using the La Prairie on ramp to the bridge. To have a look at maps of the detour routes or for further details, please consult the project blog: www.mercierbridge.ca or http://twitter.com/mercierbridge.
