The Public Safety Division wishes to inform the community that an Oil Spill Response Training Exercise will take place at Kateri Tekakwitha Island and the Marina on September 21 & 22, 2026.
The exercise will involve Public Safety, KEPO, Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, Transport Canada, and the Eastern Canada Response Corporation. A section of shoreline will be used to demonstrate oil spill cleanup and response procedures.
Community members may notice a trailer at the exercise site beginning September 15, which will remain in place until the training concludes on September 22.
Please note: This is a planned training exercise only and not an actual emergency or oil spill.
