Animal Control Services

Enforces regulations and provides public education on animal services, prevention, and care for domesticated and non-domesticated animals within the Territory.

About Us

Open seven days a week, our primary tasks include:

  • Providing information and support to the community (domestic and wildlife)
  • Issuing Warnings/Statement of Offences
  • Following up on all calls (loose animals, complaints, bites and wildlife)
  • Investigating calls of possible neglect/abuse
  • Caring for all animals in our facility
  • Transportation of animals to the proper care facilities or for relocation
  • Assisting in the removal of deceased animals
  • Assisting community members with re-homing of animals
  • Patrolling the community throughout the day

Services

Vaccination Clinics

In collaboration with a local veterinarian, Animal Control offers affordable vaccines and preventatives for fleas, ticks, heartworms, and other parasites for dogs and cats. This convenient service will be available for one day at our Animal Control facility.

Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Program/Clinics

In collaboration with the Timberlea Veterinarian Clinic, Animal Control offers low-cost spaying and neutering services. On Clinic days, a mixed group of dogs and cats are transported to Timberlea for their sterilization.

Microchipping Clinics

A veterinarian and veterinary technician are on hand at our Animal Control facility to insert microchips (a permanent form of identification) into cats and dogs.

Lost and Found

Reuniting lost pets and their owners.

Live Trap Rentals

Rental of Live Traps for removal and relocation of nuisance animals (domestic and wildlife).

Private Cremation

Offering private cremation services after the loss of a pet.

Labor Day office closure

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that all its administrative offices will be closed for Rotiio’ténion Raonenhnísera, Labor Day on Monday, September 7th.

Service Schedule for Labor Day:

  • Transfer DepotCLOSED for the day
  • Town GarageCLOSED – All cardboard drop-offs postponed to Tuesday, September 8th

 

All essential services will remain in operation. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8th, at 8:30am.
