The Sports & Recreation Unit aims to enhance the health and well-being of Kahnawa’kehró:non by promoting sports and recreation. Its mission is to encourage individuals to develop their skills and special talents to achieve their full potential.

About Us

The Sports & Recreation Unit is responsible for governing and overseeing organized sports and recreation activities to enhance the community’s health and well-being safely and effectively. This includes developing and implementing management systems, roles and responsibilities, policies, and procedures.

Services

Minor Sports Support

Provides support for Kahnawà:ke Minor Hockey, Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Minor Lacrosse Association, Kahnawà:ke Minor Baseball, Kahnawà:ke Minor Soccer, and the Kahnawà:ke Figure Skating Club.

Recreation Transfers

Facilitates transfers of funding for minor sports.

Facility Rental/Maintenance

Facilitates the rental and maintenance of Kahnawà:ke fields, parks, and ice surfaces.

Labor Day office closure

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that all its administrative offices will be closed for Rotiio’ténion Raonenhnísera, Labor Day on Monday, September 7th.

Service Schedule for Labor Day:

  • Recycling & Compost CollectionWill continue as usual – Please place bins curbside by 7am
  • Transfer DepotCLOSED for the day
  • Town GarageCLOSED – All cardboard drop-offs postponed to Tuesday, September 8th

 

All essential services will remain in operation. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8th, at 8:30am.
