MCK seeking Kahnawakehronon for Cannabis Control Board

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) is seeking one individual to serve on the Kahnawake Cannabis Control Board (KCCB) and one individual to serve as alternate on the KCCB.

The KCCB is responsible for regulating, enforcing, and administering the Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Law. Eligibility criteria include the following:

  • Must be a Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke, and be a resident within the Territory
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have no criminal conviction for an indictable offense or have received a full pardon for any such conviction
  • Must not have an interest in a private entity that has applied for or has been granted a cannabis-related license
  • Must not have a family member who has an interest in a private entity that has applied for or has been granted a cannabis-related license

Experience with regulatory matters or participating on boards and commissions is an asset. Due to the complex and challenging nature of the tasks related to this position, applicants must be willing to participate in training and must be capable of learning and applying basic concepts of administrative law. Applicants must demonstrate strong writing skills as well as the ability to make sound decisions based on the Law and Regulations.
