The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) wishes to inform the community that delegates from the Blackfoot Confederacy visited Kahnawake yesterday, February 20. The purpose of the meeting was to further develop the relationship that was initiated in October 2023, when the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake/Iroquois Caucus and the Blackfoot Confederacy signed an Alliance allowing both parties to work collectively on issues of common interest, such as border crossing.
Agenda items for this meeting included:
- Overview of the MCK Portfolio structure
- Overview of Blackfoot Confederacy structure and roles
- Iroquois Caucus/Harvest Working Group
- Jay Treaty Border Alliance
- White/Montour Case
The parties will have another opportunity to meet at the next Iroquois Caucus gathering, which will be held in Kahnawake in May 2024.
