Stop sign to be removed eastside of CPKC Tunnel

The Public Works Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that the stop sign on the east side of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Tunnel (see picture below) will be removed on Friday, August 30, 2024. A yield sign will be installed in its place to advise motorists to yield to larger vehicles (e.g., dump trucks, heavy equipment, school buses) that are in the tunnel.

The stop signs on the west side of the tunnel will remain in place.

The decision to remove the stop sign on the east side of the CPKC Tunnel was made to help ease traffic congestion and delays during the busy times of the day.
