Community Survey on the Redevelopment of Lot 106’s Hockey Rink

The Sports and Recreation Unit (SRU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is seeking community input on the future of the hockey rink at Lot 106 in the New Development. Over time, the rink has deteriorated, and as a result, it will be removed in the spring once plans for a new structure are finalized. The rink will see one last ice surface before it is dismantled as SRU prepares to remove the turf this week or next, depending on weather conditions.

The SRU is committed to a comprehensive consultation and planning process over the winter to ensure that the redevelopment of the rink meets the evolving needs of our community. To support this effort, SRU invites all Kahnawa’kehró:non to participate in a survey about the proposed redevelopment. Your feedback is essential in shaping the new facility, ensuring it addresses community concerns such as noise, safety, and other potential impacts.

Take the survey here. It’s quick, easy, and will remain open until Tuesday, December 17th. Public spaces like the hockey rink affect everyone in the community, and we encourage all voices to be heard. Share your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions to help us create a facility that best serves the needs of Kahnawà:ke.
