ISC Office announces early closure date

Press Release

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) office in Kahnawà:ke (across from the hospital) will no longer be available to take clients or visitors starting March 10, 2025. The office will remain open for a few more days, during which technical staff will prepare for the move.

The Quebec Regional Director of ISC delivered this notice to the MCK late Wednesday by email. The communication indicated that a formal notice would be posted on the office doors before the end of this week to inform clients of the change.

Ohén:ton Í:rate ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo has expressed his concern over the unexpected change, stating: “I have to say this is very unfortunate news, as we were previously informed that the office would close on March 31. At no time were we given any indication that the office would close to our community members before that date.”

“We wanted to take this small window of opportunity to let the community know ahead of time that this was happening,” said Executive Operations Officer Alan John Rice. “Going forward, we are still open to and exploring opportunities to bring ISC services to the community through initiatives such as open clinics. We will keep the community up to date as these opportunities arise.”

As always, community members who wish to apply for services online may do so at https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1462806841047/1572461062751.
