The Office of the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry (OKKR) wishes to inform the community that the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) officially approved a temporary fee waiver for the Application for Complaint for Eviction of an Individual in Violation of the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law. This waiver, passed by consensus at the duly convened Council meeting on Monday, April 14, 2025, sets the application fee at $0.00 for a period of one (1) calendar year—from April 14, 2025, to April 13, 2026.The temporary waiver will give community members the opportunity to become familiar with the process without any financial obstacles.
“This decision was made in recognition of the importance of ensuring full and fair access to the complaints process outlined in the Kahnawà:ke Residency Law and its corresponding Regulation Respecting Requests for Eviction Orders,” said Kyle Jacobs, OKKR Compliance Officer. “By eliminating the application fee for the first year, we hope to encourage individuals to come forward, learn the process, and engage with this important mechanism that supports the intent and enforcement of the Residency Law,”
