Sports and Recreation Unit operational assessment and community engagement

SRU Survey

The Sports and Recreation Unit (SRU) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that it has entrusted The Osborne Group and Daniel J. Brant & Associates (DJBA) to undertake an operational assessment and organizational optimization project. The purpose of this initiative is to strengthen SRU programs and services and ensure alignment with community needs and priorities.

Preliminary internal work began in December 2025 to gather information related to the SRU’s mandate and mandate fulfillment, job description alignment, governance and reporting structures, stakeholder engagement with sports associations, benchmarking, and community feedback.

Officially launched at MCK Ice Fest on February 7, 2026, SRU is seeking community input to better understand awareness of the SRU’s mandate and perceptions of the programs and services currently offered.

The objective of this initiative is to deliver a comprehensive report and set of recommendations that will support the SRU in growth and continuous improvement, grounded in community priorities and values. Community members can provide feedback through the survey https://culbertsonregistration.questionpro.com/MCKSRUSurvey available until Saturday, February 21st.

As an added incentive, individuals who complete the survey will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one (1) hour of ice time at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex and a $50 Sports Experts gift card.

MCK and SRU acknowledge the importance of community participation in this process and extend appreciation to all community members who take the time to share their perspectives and experiences.
