Purpose: 

The HR Partner is responsible for ensuring the seamless integration and application of human resources initiatives and functions with a specific emphasis on HRIS and Payroll.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Provides technical support to the HR Unit across various functions (HRIS, Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, Performance Management)  

HRIS Management and Optimization 

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the HRIS, ensuring effective utilization, data integrity, and system sustainability, including system controls and user access in accordance with privacy requirements. 
  • Lead or support HRIS implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and testing in collaboration with IT and vendors, translating HR business requirements into system solutions, workflows, and reporting tools. 
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards, reports, and analytics to support leadership decision-making. 
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to managers and employees on HRIS tools and processes, and create user documentation, job aids, and system procedures as needed. 

Payroll 

  • Conduct payroll audits and reconcile data between HRIS, payroll systems, and financial records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and resolution of discrepancies. 
  • Monitor payroll controls, identify risks, and recommend process improvements, supporting internal and external audits with documentation and reporting as needed. 
  • Serve as backup to payroll processing functions during absences or peak periods, including data entry, validation, and exception handling. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of payroll procedures, schedules, and statutory requirements. 

Benefits 

  • Assists in the administration, processing, and coordination of the MCK Benefit programs. 
  • Assists with the implementation of wellness activities and social programs that promote employee engagement and wellness. 
  • Assists with updates to the HRIS in respect to benefit related data. 

Performance Management and Talent Systems 

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of performance management, merit-based programs, and onboarding processes to ensure successful employee transitions. 
  • Assists with updates to the HRIS in respect to performance management – views and produces reports, and/or maintains Human Resources Information System records. 
  • Support succession planning and talent/position management processes within the HRIS. 

Compensation  

  • Provides coverage for the Compensation-focused HR Partner during periods of absence to ensure continuity of HR services. 

Assists in compensation and benchmarking studies.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources Management, or related field, plus one (1) year relevant experience.  

OR 

  • DEC or Certificate in Human Resources Management, plus three (3) years’ relevant experience.  

OR 

  • High School Diploma, plus five (5) years relevant experience with training in Human Resources. 

Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification and/or experience working with HRIS systems is an asset.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and administer complex administrative systems and processes. 
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.  
  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and courtesy when interacting with internal and external clients, fostering positive and respectful working relationships. 
  • Maintains confidentiality.  
  • Adhere to the MCK policies and Kanien’kéha Language initiatives. 
  • Ability to communicate in the Kanien’kéha and French languages is an asset. 
  • The willingness to learn the Kanien’kéha language. 

Working Environment:

  • Five-day work week is performed in an office environment. 
  • Moderate stress due to workload priorities 
  • Occasional or moderate overtime is required to meet time-sensitive payroll deadlines.
