Purpose:  

To manage the Unit’s services and projects to effectively meet the organization’s needs. To support the Unit’s staff and ensure that the Unit’s operations are properly managed and administered. Ensures that the Unit has the necessary policies, procedures, and systems in place to ensure efficiency. 

Roles & Responsibilities: 

To support and lead the ODU team, with the ODU Director, in executing ODU projects and maintaining ODU operations 

  • Tracks and ensures implementation of initiatives identified in the strategic plan for the ODU; 
  • Supports the Director of Organizational Development in delivering organization-wide initiatives; 
  • Assigns tasks and projects to the ODU team; 
  • Supervises direct reports within the ODU team; 
  • Meets regularly with the ODU team to identify areas of improvement and ensure required supports are provided; 
  • Communicates with the ODU Director and ODU team regularly about any potential risks, areas of improvement, or additional support needed in regard to ODU initiatives and operations. 
  • Fosters a positive atmosphere of growth, learning, and teambuilding; 
  • Acts as a mentor, a decision maker, and a mediator as required; 
  • Facilitates the resolution of issues; 
  • Evaluates, reviews, and communicates results of all ODU initiatives to the ODU team and MCK; 
  • Tracks the factors that influence the success of ODU’s work and adjusts approaches as needed; 
  • Acts as the representative for the ODU in operational and administrative matters.

To develop and manage the efficient and effective operations of the ODU 

  • Develops and implements ODU operational policies, standards, and procedures; 
  • Develops and manages the ODU budget(s); 
  • Coordinates with other MCK Units on behalf of ODU; 
  • Provides client intake and triage for service requests; 
  • Ensures proper document management and sharing within the ODU team; 
  • Maintains records of all ODU initiatives; 
  • Designs, implements, and continuously improves systems and practices that will foster streamlined communications and operations within ODU; 
  • Ensures implementation, communication, and evaluation of any changes to ODU operations; 
  • Determines administrative and operational needs for ODU.

To oversee, develop, and execute initiatives and projects within the MCK 

  • Ensures the timely development, maintenance, and updating of business cases, project charters, and work plans; 
  • Prioritizes and manages the tracking of all assigned projects and files using current technology platforms, coordinating schedules, contacts, activities, and documentation; 
  • Develops and implements projects using the MCK Project Management Framework, ensuring alignment with the MCK Strategic Plan and regular updates to the Unit Director and other stakeholders; 
  • Identifies and documents risks impacting project timelines or deliverables, applying problem-solving techniques to resolve issues, and mitigate risks; 
  • Participates in strategic discussions, committees, meetings, and briefings, contributing guidance, input, and feedback; 
  • Collaborates with consultants, serving as the primary client and directing their contributions to ensure project criteria are met; 
  • Researches, prepares, and presents briefs on initiatives or files, while staying informed of new developments related to assigned projects;  
  • Establishes linkages between parties and ensures the flow of information through effective communication protocols; 
  • Plans and organizes project logistics, including meetings and financial documentation, such as reports, invoices, and contracts, ensuring compliance with MCK policies and record-keeping requirements; 
  • Balances project management responsibilities with active contributions to project deliverables and tasks, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations; 
  • Handles administrative tasks necessary to ensure smooth project execution; 
  • Facilitates meetings/working sessions with stakeholders.

To manage to the ODU Office to ensure it remains operational and functional 

  • Ensures the building and meeting room are open and ready for use between 9am-12pm, and 1pm-4pm;  
  • Works with the MCK Main Office Receptionist and ODU Administrative Assistant to manage the room bookings, flagging potential meeting conflicts;  
  • Assists the meeting room’s users with any questions they have about the ODU Office.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration plus three (3) years relevant experience 
    or equivalent; 

OR 

  • High School Diploma, plus eight (8) years relevant experience. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke’s Administration Manual/Personnel Policy, procedure, and office operations is an asset; 
  • Comprehensive corporate knowledge; 
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project) and willingness to learn new programs; 
  • Must possess the following skills: project management, facilitation, interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, time management, organizational/coordination, technical writing, strong oral and written communication, and negotiation skills; 
  • Ability to work with and mobilize a team; 
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through; 
  • Ability to communicate in the Kanien’kéha and French languages is an asset;  
  • The willingness to learn the Kanien’kéha language is required.

Working Environment:

  • Occasional overtime may be required; 
  • Moderate stress; 
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of Executive Management.

Easter Holiday office closure

Friday, April 3rd & Monday, April 6th, 2026

All administrative offices of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will be closed.

 

Please note the following changes to Waste Management Department services during this period:

 

  • Friday, April 3rd – Administrative offices closed
  • Monday, April 6th – Waste Management services resume as usual; however, there will be no cardboard drop‑offs
  • Monday, April 6th – Transfer Depot will operate with reduced hours, from 8am to 2pm

 

Garbage pickup service will continue through the holiday without interruption.

 

All essential services will remain operational throughout the office closures. Regular administrative office hours will resume on Tuesday, April 7th, at 8:30am.
