The Alcoholic Beverages Control (ABC) Board is now officially in place and beginning its mandate, dedicated to ensuring fair, consistent, and accountable regulation in Kahnawà:ke. While members are currently completing their onboarding process to ensure they are fully prepared, the Board has officially begun its two-year mandate under the ABC Law.

Seven dedicated community members have stepped forward to serve on the ABC Board:

  • Caroline Charles
  • Blue Sky
  • Evelyn Jacobs
  • Wahienhtha K. Jacobs
  • Wendy Mayo
  • Bradley Thomas
  • Nihawennah Lahache McComber

Each Member began their term on September 29, 2025, and together, they bring valuable knowledge, experience, and commitment to this responsibility. Within the Board’s internal structure, Nihawennah Lahache McComber will serve as Interim Chairperson and Wahienhtha K. Jacobs as Interim Vice-Chairperson.

The ABC Board is dedicated to restoring its regulatory function and ensuring that clear procedures and consistent processes are in place to safeguard the integrity of the permitting system. As members continue their onboarding, the Board will begin working on immediate priorities and will share updates with the community as developments move forward.

Permit holders can expect to be contacted directly in the coming weeks with important updates regarding their permits and obligations under the ABC Law.

The ABC Board wishes to assure the community that it is committed to rebuilding trust, strengthening accountability, and creating a system that reflects Kahnawà:ke’s collective values. The Board recognizes that meaningful progress can only be achieved through open communication and shared responsibility.

Community voices are vital to this process. The Board encourages all community members to share their questions, concerns, or suggestions. By working together, we can build a framework that supports the well-being of our people today and upholds the strength and prosperity of the next seven generations.
