ABC Board Renews All Valid Permits for One Year

ABC Logo

The Alcoholic Beverages Control (ABC) Board (“the Board”) would like to announce to the community that they have decided, via Resolution, to amend all valid permits such that the expiration date of the permits is extended to March 25th, 2027.

The current ABC Permits were renewed on July 31, 2024, by the former ABC Board and were twice given extensions. However, the latest extension expired on February 28th, 2026, and given the challenges and time constraints with regards to inspections, missing filing/documentation, and the outdated nature of the Kahnawake Communal Law on Alcoholic Beverages (“the Law”), the Board has chosen to amend the expiration date of all valid permits. This time will allow the Board to focus on updating the Law and Regulations and ensure proper enforcement and compliance mechanisms.

All valid Permits, those being the permits that were renewed in 2024 by the previous Board, are hereby amended. The list of permits that have been renewed are as follows:

  1. Restaurant
  2. Bar
  3. Retail
  4. Grocery
  5. Social Organization
  6. Wholesale
  7. Manufacture

Community members wishing to obtain an Occasional permit must re-apply.

The Board encourages all permit holders to carefully review the Law as it pertains to their Permit and allowable items for sale. All renewal fees are due by May 1st, 2026.

Holders of valid Permits will receive their 2026 – 2027 permit by mail in the coming weeks. If permit holders wish to provide an updated Box number or address for these Permits, they can do so by contacting the ABC Board.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Board.
