Animal Control Services reminds community of Animal Control Law

The Public Safety Division’s Animal Control Services would like to remind the community of the Kahnawà:ke Animal Control Law. With warmer weather quickly approaching, Animal Control has noticed a significant increase in loose dogs.

According to Section 12. ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE:

12.1  Every Owner must ensure that their Animal is not Running at Large and is responsible for confining their Animal by any sufficient and humane way to prevent the Animal from Running at Large.

Please remember that there are no areas designated for off-leash activities. All dogs must be on a leash when in public.

Unleashed dogs will be subject to impoundment by Animal Control, with fines, reclaiming fees, and overnight fees charged to the owners. If a dog is abandoned, the owner will face additional fines.
