Annual Christmas Bird Count (December 20, 2025)

Please consider this authorization for your volunteers to carry out the Annual Christmas Bird Count in Kahnawà:ke starting in the early morning until the late afternoon on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) will be assisting.

They will be in the area(s) of:

  • Big Fence
  • Tekakwitha Island
  • Green spaces along the seaway
  • Old railroad tracks
  • Tower Road
  • Common lands near Highway 30 • 207 Highway area (including Kanawaki Golf Club, Caughnawaga Golf Club and Lafleur Golf Club)
  • North Wall – land located north of the St. Lawrence Seaway from the Ste. Catherine locks to the end of the Kahnawà:ke land base

The teams must stay on the main roads described so as not to disturb homeowners or private properties. Additionally, please ensure that there are no disruptions to traffic or safety hazards caused when parking your vehicles. Please provide the results of the Kahnawà:ke Christmas Bird Count survey to the Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office.

Easter Holiday office closure

Friday, April 3rd & Monday, April 6th, 2026

All administrative offices of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will be closed.

 

Please note the following changes to Waste Management Department services during this period:

 

  • Friday, April 3rd – Administrative offices closed
  • Monday, April 6th – Waste Management services resume as usual; however, there will be no cardboard drop‑offs
  • Monday, April 6th – Transfer Depot will operate with reduced hours, from 8am to 2pm

 

Garbage pickup service will continue through the holiday without interruption.

 

All essential services will remain operational throughout the office closures. Regular administrative office hours will resume on Tuesday, April 7th, at 8:30am.
