Code of Conduct for the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Ratitsénhaienhs Approved by Consensus

Press Release

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the Code of Conduct for the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Ratitsénhaienhs (Code of Conduct) was formally passed by consensus at the duly-convened Council meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

The Code of Conduct will replace the 2020-2021 Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Code of Conduct for the Council of Chiefs. The MCK Ratitsénhaienhs will undertake a review of the Code of Conduct by the end of their term of office in 2027 in order to provide feedback and recommend changes for the 2027-2030 elected Council’s consideration.

“This revised Code of Conduct reflects community expectations in the conduct of the elected officials and is the first of the five governance documents to be reviewed and validated by the community. The Governance Advisory Team (GAT) worked diligently to ensure that the Code of Conduct was comprehensive and that it fostered a culture of trust, accountability, and transparency” said Governance Portfolio Lead Tonya Perron.

The newly revised and approved Code of Conduct can be found here.
