Community members asked to be mindful of snow clearing operations

snow-plow-2026

The Public Works Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is asking community members to help expedite snow clearing operations by refraining from pushing snow onto roads, sidewalks, and recreational paths. Snow pushed from private residences and businesses can accumulate along roadways, reducing lane width, obstructing visibility, and block pedestrian access.

Additionally, the Waste Management department is reminding community members to remove garbage and recycle bins on sidewalks, recreational paths, and streets once they have been emptied. Bins left in these areas can hinder snow removal operations and may pose a public safety risk by forcing pedestrians to walk on roadways. This will also prevent garbage and recycling bins from being damaged.
