Complete Fire Ban in effect for Tioweró:ton

Fire Ban in Tioweroton

The Public Safety Division, in conjunction with the Kahnawà:ke Fire Bridgade (KFB), wishes to inform the community that a complete fire ban is currently in effect across the entire Laurentian region, including Tioweró:ton.

The fall season has brought higher temperatures and very little rainfall. These dry conditions have caused the forest to become highly susceptible to fire, and this trend is expected to continue. Over the past week, several wildfires have been reported in southwestern Ontario, underscoring that the risk remains significant even as the season progresses. Because of these factors, a complete ban on open fires is now in effect across the region.

Public Safety, in collaboration with KFB and the Tioweró:ton Caretakers, will continue monitoring the situation and will advise the community when conditions improve enough to lift the fire ban.

Tioweró:ton is almost entirely forested and lacks sufficient firefighting equipment, making fire prevention critical.
