The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is announcing a directive to delegate the authority and responsibilities of Executive Director to the Executive Administrative Officer, Dawn Marquis-Deere, due to a temporary leave in the position. The directive was approved by consensus at the Monday, September 8th duly convened Council meeting.
This delegation is enacted under the Relationship Framework (“the Framework”), which governs the working relationship between the Executive Director and the Grand Chief, as well as support for strategic alignment of Council priorities and organizational goals.
“As a vital leadership position, it is crucial to ensure operational continuity by appointing Marquis-Deere as the Interim Executive Director,” said Ohén:ton Í:rate ne Ratitsénhaienhs Cody Diabo. “The Framework ensures that there are no voids in the governing structure of the MCK.”
Additionally, the delegation identifies that in the event that Ms. Marquis-Deere is temporarily unavailable, Kyle Delisle, Executive Financial Officer, will serve as the secondary designate. The delegation is set for a flexible period of up to six months, as the Executive Director’s return date has not yet been determined.
