Decision-makers sign Oath of Office

Public Service Announcement

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is pleased to announce that Mr. Brandon Montour and Ms. Aubrey Charette officially signed their Oath of Office as Decision-makers to the Administrative Tribunal on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

This is the final step to commence their five-year terms following their appointment by a Mohawk Council Executive Directive on February 3, 2025, which is part of the ongoing implementation of the Kahnawà:ke Justice Act (Justice Act).

Mr. Montour is a McGill University Faculty of Law graduate, holds multiple degrees, and is pursuing a Doctor of Juridical Sciences at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He previously chaired the Kahnawà:ke Cannabis Control Board.

Ms. Charette, a graduate of Oxford University and McGill University’s Faculty of Law, is a member of the New York and Ontario Bar Associations and runs a law practice in Ottawa. She is a member of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation.

The Administrative Tribunal, a cornerstone of the Justice Act, reviews and corrects administrative decisions, offering a more flexible and user-friendly alternative to traditional courts.

Easter Holiday office closure

Friday, April 3rd & Monday, April 6th, 2026

All administrative offices of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will be closed.

 

Please note the following changes to Waste Management Department services during this period:

 

  • Friday, April 3rd – Administrative offices closed
  • Monday, April 6th – Waste Management services resume as usual; however, there will be no cardboard drop‑offs
  • Monday, April 6th – Transfer Depot will operate with reduced hours, from 8am to 2pm

 

Garbage pickup service will continue through the holiday without interruption.

 

All essential services will remain operational throughout the office closures. Regular administrative office hours will resume on Tuesday, April 7th, at 8:30am.
