Director of HR departs MCK

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) announces that Joni Diabo will be stepping down as Director of Human Resources (HR), to pursue another opportunity. Since joining MCK in June 2023, Diabo has made significant contributions to strengthening the organization’s HR capacity.

Diabo was key in bringing organizational policies up to date, streamlining recruitment practices and increasing engagement with employees and leadership across the organization. Additionally, she expanded the HR team to better meet the needs of the organization, while launching new training programs and implementing wellness and employee recognition initiatives.

“Joni has been instrumental in strengthening HR practices during a period of organizational change,” said Interim Executive Director Dawn Marquis-Deere. “We are grateful for the leadership, professionalism, and dedication shown throughout her time with MCK, and we wish her every success in this next chapter.”

Diabo’s last day with the MCK is Friday, January 30th. The MCK extends its sincere appreciation to Joni Diabo for her service. Information on the vacant position will be posted in the near future.

Easter Holiday office closure

Friday, April 3rd & Monday, April 6th, 2026

All administrative offices of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke will be closed.

 

Please note the following changes to Waste Management Department services during this period:

 

  • Friday, April 3rd – Administrative offices closed
  • Monday, April 6th – Waste Management services resume as usual; however, there will be no cardboard drop‑offs
  • Monday, April 6th – Transfer Depot will operate with reduced hours, from 8am to 2pm

 

Garbage pickup service will continue through the holiday without interruption.

 

All essential services will remain operational throughout the office closures. Regular administrative office hours will resume on Tuesday, April 7th, at 8:30am.
