The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that the Sports and Recreation Unit (SRU), with support from the Asset Management Unit, is dismantling the outdoor rink at Lot‑106 today to prepare for the construction of a new, enhanced rink.

Construction of the new rink will begin in the coming weeks and is expected to be completed by late June. The upgraded rink will be the same size as the existing one, centered on the lot, and built with professional‑grade boards on a concrete slab. The current boards will be reused to improve other outdoor rinks in the community.

In response to past concerns about damage and noise, the new rink will be fully fenced and netted, and curfews will be enforced. Landscaping improvements are also planned to enhance the surrounding area.

This project reflects SRU’s ongoing commitment to improving outdoor facilities and supporting active, healthy lifestyles for Kahnawà:ke youth.

For questions, please contact the Sports and Recreation Unit at sportsrecreation@mck.ca or by phone at 450-638-3311.
