Invasive Plant Phragmites Community Presentation

The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) invites all community members to a special presentation and site visit focused on the management of Phragmites australis (common reed), an aggressive invasive plant threatening our local ecosystems.

This event will feature representatives from First Nation Phragmites Control (FNPC), a leading organization in the fight against this harmful species. Learn about the environmental impacts of Phragmites and discover how our community can take action to help control its spread.

📍 Location: 207 Restaurant
🕔 Date & Time: Wednesday, June 25th, starting at 5:00 PM
🥗 Details: A light meal will be provided, followed by a short walk to a nearby Phragmites-invaded site. Please wear appropriate walking shoes. The event will conclude by 7:00 PM.

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that all its administrative offices will be closed for Tsi Na’teiontenonhwerá:tons Awenhnísera on Monday, October 12th.

The Waste Management Department will be closed for cardboard drop-offs. Regular household recycling, compost, and special collections pickup will occur as usual. The Transfer Depot will be closed for the holiday.

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular office business hours will resume on Tuesday, October 13th, at 8:30am.
