Grand opening of new Community Justice Center

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to invite community members to attend the official grand opening of the Onkwaná:takon Karihwakwarihshiónhtshera Kaia’takwe’niiò:ke Community Justice Center (CJC) on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 10am to 12pm.

The event will mark an important milestone for the Kahnawà:ke Justice System and the continued development of community-based justice services. The new Community Justice Center was established to support a range of justice initiatives, including restorative justice, Court of Kahnawà:ke proceedings, victim support services, and other community justice programs.

The grand opening will include a traditional welcome, formal opening remarks, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, light refreshments, and an opportunity for guests to tour the facility and learn more about the services offered through the Justice Services Division.

Community members are encouraged to attend and take part in this historic occasion. The event will also provide an opportunity for those unable to attend the MCK Open House to learn more about the role of Justice Services and the work being done to strengthen Kahnawà:ke’s justice system.

Tsi Na’teiontenonhwerá:tons Awenhnísera office closure

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that all its administrative offices will be closed for Tsi Na’teiontenonhwerá:tons Awenhnísera on Monday, October 12th.

The Waste Management Department will be closed for cardboard drop-offs. Regular household recycling, compost, and special collections pickup will occur as usual. The Transfer Depot will be closed for the holiday.

All essential services will remain in operation.

Regular office business hours will resume on Tuesday, October 13th, at 8:30am.
