Heavy rain and flooding possible in Tioweró:ton

Public Safety Division Announcement

The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise the community that heavy rainfall is expected on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with a high potential for flooding in Tioweró:ton.

Weather statements indicate that 15 to 25 millimetres of rain are forecasted across Southern Quebec. These rainfall amounts may significantly impact already elevated water levels, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

The Public Safety Division will continue to monitor the situation closely and reminds the public to exercise caution. Community members are asked to remain mindful of the dangers associated with flooded roadways and affected cabin areas, as conditions may change rapidly.
